The President's Letter
I was installed as president of Evangelical Theological Seminary in November 2023. Since then I have had the privilege of meeting the seminary’s faculty and staff. The school’s history spans forty-two years beginning in the years of Ronald Regan who declared the Year of the Bible to the turbulent times we live in today. The importance of proclaiming God’s Word and teaching students to serve Him are so important.
We believe our courses reflect the conservative evangelical approach which has been lost by so many churches and other institutions of higher learning. Our educational programs are designed to maintain biblical authority while applying it to the needs of Christianity today. Our unique approach allows those who are already working in the service of our Lord, to further their education. The ability to have the flexibility they need to maintain their jobs and support their families was important to our founder, the late Dr. Nathan Killian. He called this approach “guided self-study.”
The seminary’s goal is to guide each student through the required courses leading to their chosen degree. They do this at their own pace which fits their individual schedule. Student are guided, but they are independent in the management of their studies and their thoughts. The greatest resource and guide for them as they study independently is the Holy Spirit. We are confident that He, Who inspired the writing of the Holy Scriptures, is also the One Who illuminates our understanding of His Holy Word. The seminary encourages each student to rely and depend upon the leading of the Holy Spirit. He is our great Counselor. He is the One Who will help you to understand and shape your independent studies.
At Evangelical Theological Seminary, our students receive the best in academic instruction and training. You will find the courses to be biblically oriented and solidly grounded on the Word of God. We invite you to join us in your educational pursuit of God's will for a lifetime of ministry.
Sincerely in Christ,
Dr. David Bush, President
